My name is Catherine Fontenot, and I'm currently an undergraduate at the Savannah College of Art and Design in Savannah, GA, and will be graduating with a BFA in June 2011. I'm majoring in illustration and market myself as a freelance illustrator and graphic designer; well, a visual artist in general.
I love nature, animals, and traveling, and I would like to think my admiration for these things is reflected in what I do. I believe is it's crucial to humanity to observe and appreciate the things the world has to offer, especially in our surroundings. I usually incorporate some kind of natural or organic element in my illustrations. I want my images to relate to people and get them to feel something when they look at them.
I lived in Saudi Arabia for about 4 and a half years (from the age of 4 to 8-years-old), and I really believe my early childhood being spent overseas has made a huge influence on my perceptions and beliefs, my aesthetics, and my creativity. As an undergraduate junior at Savannah College of Art and Design, I studied abroad in Provence, France in the spring 2010, and fell in love with the French countryside and charming towns. Perhaps, it's because my family heritage is French . . . It was truly one of the most inspiring experiences that I've had. I hope the future allows me similar opportunities . . .
I am interested in doing freelance work and will be looking for other work once I have attained my BFA in early June 2011. Because I am still attending school, I am not yet settled into a permanent address. If some of my work did not indicate this, Texas is my home state. Although Georgia is my current location, I anticipate moving to Austin, Texas soon! If you're interested in my artwork, contact me.
